Another week, another Bookmarks! From adaptation news, prize news, fun bookish dining and more, we’ve been keeping on top of the bookish things that happened this week so you don’t have to. Keep reading to see what caught our eye this week!
1. The Hate U Give is Coming to TIFF (Plus, the Movie Tie-In Cover is Here)!
It’s no secret that we love Angie Thomas and her debut novel The Hate U Give here at The Savvy Reader. Well now we have even more to love! It was announced this week that the The Hate U Give movie adaptation will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival this fall and, to go along with this announcement, its stunning movie poster, movie tie-in edition, and collector’s edition have been revealed. If you haven’t read The Hate U Give yet, what are you waiting for?
2. Two Canadians On the Man Booker Prize Longlist
In case you missed the initial announcement and our Top Story Tuesday, the Man Booker Prize longlist was announced this week! Not only are two Canadian authors — Esi Edugyan for Washington Black and Michael Ondaatje for Warlight — in the running, this year the longlist also features its first ever graphic novel (Sabrina by Nick Drnaso)! Read more about this year’s longlist here. Which books are on your TBRs, Savvy Readers?
3. Check It Out: “Dinner Time Stories”
This is SO COOL! An interactive dining experience, Dinner Time Stories, is coming to Toronto this fall. On top of a great meal, diners will experience a visual feast of beautiful 3D animations projected onto a blank book. The Toronto Star has the full scoop here.
4. Win an Advanced Copy of Marilla of Green Gables
Get ready to head back to Avonlea, Savvy Readers! In Marilla of Green Gables, out October 23rd, author Sarah McCoy tells the story of Marilla’s life at Green Gables before Anne came into her life. But a few readers won’t have to wait so long to find out about Marilla’s past because HarperCollins Canada is giving away three advanced copies of the book on their Facebook page here. We can’t wait to revisit this iconic Canadian story!
Alright, Savvy Readers! We hope you have an amazing weekend. If we’ve missed any bookish news, please tweet it to us @SavvyReader on Twitter or leave us a comment below!
